Staff
The success of Unity 2026 lies with the army of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers typically known as Staff. Unity 2026 is looking for adults to support the delivery of the camp and ensure that all those attending have the most amazing time.
With a wide range of roles available, there will be one of these for you. You could make use of existing skills or learn something new. Find out more about each of the teams below.
It is desirable, but not essential, that you are a member of Girlguiding. Any non members will need to complete an Enhanced DBS Check. International members require endorsement from their national Guide Association.
Members who are 16-30 have the option of joining our service team where you will take on a large variety of support roles during the week and also have the opportunity to take part in a service project and a day out. Find out more here.

As part of the administration team you will be supporting on all aspects of Unity. You will be welcoming units to the event and checking them in, be the first point of contact for all information requests at the help desk and generally provide support throughout the event. You may also be required to provide support before the event packaging up information and welcome packs.

As an Adult Programme team member you will be responsible for developing and delivering a programme for all our adult volunteers. Your duties may include facilitating an activity, arranging training sessions, creating activity packs and much more.

As a member of the bar team (over 18s only) you will be working late in the evening providing a great social atmosphere for our volunteers over 18. Your duties may include serving drinks and snacks, clearing tables, washing up and providing great customer service.

As a member of the cafe team you will be working on a rota providing drinks and food to participants and volunteers. Your duties may include preparing and serving food, making cold and hot drinks, clearing tables, washing up and providing great customer service.

As a member of the Merchandise and Uniform team you will be working on a rota basis welcoming all attendees into a fun and inviting shop. Your duties may include keeping shelves filled and working the till. You may also need to support ahead of the event packing uniform packs for units and volunteers as well as packing the pre-orders from the online shop.

As a Zone Leader for the Daytime Programme, you will help the Head of Daytime Programme to develop, organise and deliver one of the activity zones, you will also be responsible for leading a group of volunteers in your activity zone.

As a member of the Daytime Programme team you will be helping to provide a memorable Unity experience for all participants. You will be designated an activity to facilitate during the event, help motivate participants and provide support to your zone leader.

The engineering team at Unity help in all aspects of making sure the event runs smoothly. Firstly they set up all infrastructure during build week including all utilities, marquees and signage. During the event they provide support with transportation of equipment, making any repairs to infrastructure, supporting units with any faulty equipment, and so much more. They will then help take down everything after the event to return the site to a blank field.
This role will take you all over the event site giving you a unique opportunity to see everything going on. Electrical, plumbing or carpentry skills desirable but not essential, the most desirable quality is a can-do attitude.

As an evening programme team member, you’ll be keeping participants entertained while they’re not at their activity sessions. You will also be helping to launch the event with our Opening Ceremony and ensuring the event goes out with a bang with our Closing Ceremony. Your duties may include assisting backstage, co-ordinating performers or facilitating evening programme zones. You will be required to work late in the evening.

As part of the Kid’s Club you will be providing age appropriate activities and care for our volunteers children aged 0 to 14 yrs. Experience or qualifications working with children in the age bracket beneficial but not essential.

As part of the First Aid Team you will provide first aid support for the event for all attendees. Unit Leaders will be responsible for their unit’s first aid however the First Aid Team may be called upon for additional support. You may also be required to support on the implementation of the major incident plan if required. A qualification in first aid as a minimum is required.

As part of the Health and Safety team you will support the Head of Health & Safety with ensuring all aspects of Unity are delivered in a safe and controlled manner. Your duties may include reviewing risk assessments and ensuring that mitigation measures are implemented as required, carrying out health and safety audits across the site and supporting on the implementation of the major incident plan if required.

As part of the wellbeing and inclusion team you will be providing support to all attendees with all aspects of wellbeing and inclusion. As part of inclusion you may be asked to support the programme team in ensuring that all activities are as inclusive as possible. You will also be asked to facilitate the wellbeing hub giving all attendees a safe space as well as providing a listening ear of advice and support as appropriate.

As part of the media and marketing team, you will be responsible for capturing and sharing everything that happens at Unity. You may be taking photos and videos to share online and to use as future promotion or you may be posting on the social media channels to give live updates of the event.

As part of the Security and Logistics team you will be providing a security presence during the event as well ass support with logistics of any arrivals or departures from the event. Your duties may include car parking, traffic management, security patrol walks, interactions with the public, supporting on the implementation of the major incident plan if required.

As part of the subcamp team, you will be supporting units and ensuring that all participants have a consistent and fantastic experience. Your role will be varied and could include supporting and visiting units, working with the international team, providing wellbeing support, being the first point of contact for information.

As part of the Ranger and Young Leader subcamp team, you will be supporting participants and ensuring that they all have a consistent and fantastic experience. As most of the participants on this subcamp will be attending without their unit leaders you will be their support for the event. Your role will be varied and could include guiding participants around the site and to activities, working with the international team, providing wellbeing support, providing initial first aid, being the first point of contact for information.

Your role will be varied and could include providing a chill out space for volunteers, working with the international team, providing wellbeing support, providing initial first aid, being the first point of contact for information.

As part of the Unity in a Day team you will help deliver a programme of activities and entertainment for Rainbow and Brownie units visiting Unity. Your duties may include facilitating an activity base, providing information to units attending, helping with way-finding, supporting external suppliers.
